About Our Firm

Sanvenero & Cittadino, LLC is a law firm in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, focused on divorce and family law. Our attorneys also handle business law, entertainment law, real estate, personal injury, estate planning, civil litigation, and criminal and municipal court defense. From our office at 740 Broad Street, Suite 200, we represent individuals, families, and businesses throughout Monmouth County, Ocean County, Middlesex County, and across New Jersey. Our attorneys are also admitted to practice in New York, Florida, and the District of Columbia.

Richard Sanvenero, a New Jersey Supreme Court Certified Matrimonial Attorney, and Joshua Cittadino founded the firm on a simple idea: clients deserve skilled advocacy, honest guidance, and attorneys who know them by name. We take time to understand each client’s story, explain the process one step at a time, and give clients the information they need to make confident decisions about their families, finances, and futures.

Our Attorneys

Managing partner Richard Sanvenero earned his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and his law degree from Barry University School of Law. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Christopher D. Rafano, J.S.C., in the Family Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Middlesex Vicinage. That experience gave him an inside view of how judges evaluate family cases. He is admitted in New Jersey, New York, and the District of Columbia, is trained in mediation, arbitration, and collaborative divorce, and has served as Co-Chair of the Monmouth Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and as a Trustee of the Monmouth Bar Association.

Founding partner Joshua Cittadino grew up in Baldwin, New York, and attended SUNY Cortland, where he was named a First Team All-American in lacrosse and won national championships as both a player and a coach. Before law school, he worked as a stagehand at Lincoln Center. A graduate of Barry University School of Law admitted in New Jersey, New York, and Florida, he focuses on real estate, construction litigation, personal injury, employment matters, and business transactions, from entity formation and trademarks to buying and selling businesses.

Of counsel Michael Canarick brings more than 20 years of experience in tax and estate planning. He holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University and is admitted in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. He advises high net worth individuals, business owners, and young families on strategies to protect and transfer wealth.

The firm’s team also includes attorneys David Fiveland, Bill Jeffery, Louis J. Keleher, Nicholas Malta, Gregory Mulroy, Terence Natale, and Alberta Waingort-Sutton, along with experienced paralegals and staff who support every client matter.

A Firm Built Around Family Law

Family law is the core of our practice. Divorce, custody, support, and domestic violence matters affect a person’s home, finances, and relationship with their children for years. These cases call for careful preparation and steady judgment. We represent clients in negotiated settlements, mediation, collaborative divorce, and contested litigation in the Family Part of the Superior Court. Our work covers high net worth divorce, alimony, child support, custody and parenting time, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-judgment modifications and enforcement, and restraining order hearings.

Matrimonial certification by the Supreme Court of New Jersey is earned by a small percentage of family lawyers in the state. It requires substantial experience, a written examination, and favorable peer and judicial review. That background, combined with the firm’s experience in business, tax, and estate planning matters, allows us to handle divorces involving closely held companies, professional practices, real estate holdings, and significant family wealth.

One Team for Overlapping Legal Needs

Legal problems rarely stay in one category. A divorce may involve a family business and its contracts. A domestic violence case can affect custody, housing, and firearm rights. A growing company may need help with leases, partnership agreements, and employment issues while its owner is planning for a marriage or updating an estate plan. Because our attorneys practice across these areas, clients can address every part of their situation with one coordinated team.

Beyond family law, we form and advise businesses and serve as outside general counsel for companies that need ongoing support. We represent contractors, restaurant owners, and hospitality businesses. We handle residential and commercial real estate transactions and disputes, pursue compensation for people injured through someone else’s negligence, and defend clients facing criminal charges, DWI, traffic violations, and firearm permit denials. With Netflix building a studio campus at the former Fort Monmouth and film and television production growing across New Jersey, we also advise artists, musicians, creators, and production companies on contracts, intellectual property, and rights.

Rooted in the Communities We Serve

We live and work in the same communities as our clients, including Shrewsbury, Red Bank, Rumson, Middletown, Holmdel, Colts Neck, Tinton Falls, Long Branch, Asbury Park, Freehold, and Toms River. We appear regularly at the Monmouth County Courthouse in Freehold, the Ocean County Courthouse in Toms River, the Middlesex County Courthouse in New Brunswick, and municipal courts throughout the region. Our attorneys are active in the Monmouth County and Middlesex County bar associations, and many of our clients return to us as their families and businesses grow.

What Clients Can Expect

Every engagement begins with listening. We learn your goals and concerns, explain your options in plain language, and give you a realistic view of the likely outcomes. Throughout the case, we return calls, keep you informed, and prepare every matter thoroughly, whether it resolves through negotiation or goes to trial. We also offer convenient payment options, including financing, to make experienced representation more accessible.
